Craigslist is one of the most popular, and it seems effective, of the free ad sites. It is city specific, meaning you can only post your ad to one city at a time. But if you're clever and reword the headline of the ad, and the body of the ad, you can post to a number of different cities as long as you use a different ad for each city.
Pay Per ClickGoogle through their AdWords advertising program, offers paid advertising through the use of text linked ads placed on websites. These ads can also be placed on blogs. Advertisers hope to convince visitors to click on the text ad and visit their own websites through these text linked ads. The advertisers pay Google for every visitor that clicks through. Google passes on some of the money to the owner of the websites where the click originated. This is know as PPC or pay per click. You keep control of how much money you spend on PPC ads by setting up a daily limit. You also select keyword phrases that you bid on. The more popular the keyword phrase the higher you have to bid for your ad to show up on websites where it's used. Banner adsYou've seen banner advertising on websites you visit. The banner can be horizontal or vertical or be a square. Your banner is linked to whatever page or website you select. Usually you pay by the impression, or how many people see your ad. The trick to successful banner advertising is to have an eye catching banner designed that intrigues visitors to click, to select heavily trafficked sites and sites that have targeted traffic. |
